Welcome to Industry Outlook – a one-day strategic conference

Telecoms and media is one of the most diverse, pervasive and dynamic sectors on the planet. However, its long-term value is in question as traditional business models and roles are challenged by younger more nimble competitors. What do traditional telecoms and media firms have to do to remain relevant to their customers and valued by their shareholders? Should they move into new parts of the value chain or, alternatively, do they need to focus ruthlessly on their core business?

Now in its 12th year, Informa Telecoms & Media’s Industry Outlook 2014 assesses the options available to players across the sector. This one-day, analyst-led conference brings together leading figures from across the telecoms and media business to discuss future strategies

The title for this year’s conference, which will be held in London on November 7, is Digital Futures: Creating new roles and value chains. It will showcase new research from Informa Telecoms & Media that demonstrates how value has shifted across different parts of the value chain.

The event will also include presentations from C-level executives in communications service providers (CSPs), technology providers and media firms. This will give you the opportunity to benchmark your approach to innovation and understand the impact that 2014’s core industry themes will have on your business.

This year’s event again includes access to Analyst Clinics throughout the day, giving you the opportunity to quiz Informa thought leaders about specific issues relating to your business.

[post_content] => David is an advisor to the senior management of organisations facing major strategic, commercial and regulatory decisions. He has advised companies, investors, regulators, Governments and companies in 20 countries, with a particular focus on the media industry.  He's been at the forefront of development of new commercial models for digital media, restructuring 'traditional' media companies and launching new products and services. This includes on-demand, personalised and monetised content in video, music and radio on all platforms.

He's published reports on the future of the media industry, digital disruption, changes to copyright, future of digital radio, content commissioning and the effectiveness of advertising. His views have been covered by all of the nationals and media publications, and he's spoken on CNN and CNBC.

He tries hard to blend analytical rigour, creativity and a human touch in everything he does. With grounding in science - maths and economics - and with real life experience of psychology, he works with organisations and individuals to tap into their full potential. His style has been described as bringing ‘confidence with humility’ to interactions - confident that he can work to deliver results, whilst humble to know that every situation, and every day, throws up new perspectives and new challenges.

He lives in Elstree, is happily married to Saloni with a delightful young son, Sachin. He's recently taken up the trumpet again, and enjoys running (if not that talented).

[post_content] => Sanjiv Ahuja is one of the most recognized and noted telecom business leaders in the industry today.
His corporate successes have included leading the turnaround and growth of Orange S.A. from 2003 to 2007. During Sanjiv’s tenure as the CEO, Orange grew from 48 million subscribers to well over 100 million subscribers. Orange also added several countries to its footprint both in Europe and Africa. During this period, Orange experienced a dramatic financial turnaround and success on all metrics, including revenue and profitability.
Prior to Orange, Sanjiv led the turnaround of Telcordia Technologies (formerly Bellcore). During his tenure there (1994-2000), the company doubled revenue and more than quadrupled its profitability.
Since 2007, Sanjiv has been engaged in several entrepreneurial efforts. He has founded, chaired or funded several telecommunications companies around the world. These companies include: Eaton Towers, a telecommunications infrastructure company in Africa; Augere Holdings in Asia, a company delivering affordable, genuine wireless broadband to underserved customers in developing markets such as Bangladesh and Pakistan; and LightSquared in the US, the nation’s first wholesale-only integrated 4G-LTE wireless broadband and satellite network. Revenues for these companies exceeded $100M in 2012. He chairs several of these companies today.

Sanjiv is also engaged in investing and incubating several ventures in both infrastructure and technology arenas around the globe, including Way4orth, whose mission is to provide shared-telecommunications infrastructure in its target markets in the US and Europe.

He is also developing Tillman Global Holdings, which will be building telecommunications infrastructure in Myanmar and the rest of southeast Asia.

He has served on several public boards including Telenor S.A., Cadbury’s, Williams-Sonoma and Network Appliance.
Sanjiv has a degree in electrical engineering from Delhi University, India, and a master’s degree from Columbia University in New York.
